Why should I attend this event?

Attending this online event gives you the opportunity to:

• build relationships with other travel enthusiasts from around the world! (Especially if you're planning a solo trip, this gives you the chance to meet others who you could potentially explore foreign lands with~)
• be added to a private group chat where I (Megan Osten) share my personalized recommendations (i.e. my favorite restaurants/cafes/airbnbs)
• be added to a meet-up group chat (if living in South Korea) where we will share at least one meal together a month PLUS plan spontaneous hangouts in Seoul
• meet me (Megan Osten) and you'll be given the chance to ask me anything during the Q&A portion of this event (from questions about your upcoming trip to questions about myself - I'm happy to answer anything to the best of my abilities!)

Traveling is such a privilege and you don't have to do it alone~  

To think, within a flight or two, we can be transported to regions of the world completely different from the land we call “home”… WOW! The emotions I feel as I write that sentence are many: excitement (of course!), but it's mixed with a bit of anxiety and nervous apprehension.   

However you feel about traveling, I think we can all agree that the whole “doing life” thing is better when you have people by your side who can relate to the emotions you're feeling and even experience them together. So...

I created this event to help explorers from all over the world connect with each other~

This event allows you to meet someone who:

• you can talk with as you anxiously anticipate your flight date… which just keeps creeping closer and closer! 
• you can explore a new country with, making your solo trip feel a lot less solo
• can help prepare you for the culture shock/cultural differences you will experience living abroad
• also wishes they could travel right now but that dream trip currently seems to be on hold

You will...

1. Choose which event you would like to attend (see the section titled "Current available time slots")

2. Register for the event (see the section titled "How to Register")

3. Fill out and submit the event questionnaire. I will receive your results and don’t worry - your answers will remain totally confidential!

4. Before the actual event, I (Megan Osten) will review your answers and hand-match you with three, separate travelers who will also attend the same event(s) as you - myself included! (explained more below).

5. Then comes the big day! Time to make some friends! 

Event overview: The event lasts 50-60 minutes.         

• The first 5-10 minutes will be overall introductions, using your FIRST name and LAST INITIAL only, IF you’d like to introduce yourself to the group. You will answer a few questions about yourself: FIRST name, where you’re from, where you plan to travel or would like to travel to next and when, one fun/interesting fact about yourself, and one silly question that will we choose spontaneously together (you can choose *not to* participate in this portion of the event)        
• Then, we will spend the next 30 minutes breaking up into assigned pairs. You will have 7-10 minutes in with each grouping. **This is why you filled out the questionnaire! That way I can match you with others who will be traveling at the same time as you and/or someone I think you’d match well with! I (Megan Osten) will be participating in this portion of the event too and I cannot WAIT to meet you guys personally! And don’t worry: I will provide you a list of questions before each pairing, so there’s less awkward…. “Uhhh... hi… I don’t know what to talk about” moments hehe ;) [*NOTE* In this section please do NOT ask, exchange, or share your personal information. I will explain why in the final section of this event. But please DO write down/remember the names of the people you enjoyed meeting!]        
• In closing, I will leave the last 10-20 minutes open if you have any questions in regards to travel, myself, and (almost) everything in-between. If I need to stay longer, I don’t mind! I want to help you all out as much as I can~

6. After the event is complete, you will personally email me the names of the individuals you enjoyed chatting with. If both parties send me each other’s names, then I will connect the two of you via email and you can exchange personal contact information in whatever format you prefer (i.e. KakaoTalk, instagram, email., etc.)
